Description

This beautiful 1915 S Buffalo Nickel or Indian Head Nickel was designed by James E. Fraser, whose initial F is seen below the clear date. The S for San Francisco mint appears beneath the clear “Five Cents” on the reverse. The buffalo’s tail and horn are clear. On the obverse, the cheekbone shows and there is light wear on the ribbon. There are two small marks on the rim. About half the mint luster appears.

I was a private coin collector and occasional seller since the early 1950’s. My wife and I retired and we are selling our collections. Although this coin has not been certified by a third-party service, I have given my most accurate grading– and in my opinion this coin is in better condition than extremely fine and is almost at the about uncirculated level–   and my most accurate pricing based both upon my experience and upon my analysis of the data in Yeoman’s “Handbook of U.S. Coins 2020” [the “Blue Book,” 77th edition]. My price is below the Blue Book report of what dealers have paid for About Uncirculated 1915 S Nickels, for intended resale during the previous year.
